Graphics question

I think religion, the second world war and politics are the things to stay clear of lol, years ago "the War" was brought up with Matt Kempke and he had the same philosophy, shit happened and no one can change it all we can do is learn from it and not make the same mistakes, it doesn't matter what you try and do some little jumped up do gooder will complain
We have a "gay" game made with VS and although its not my cup of tea it wasn't shunned by anyone as fair as I know
I'm a fan of The Young Ones, a tv series from the early 80's and I was going to do a parody and Cliff Richard was going to be god and Ozzy Osborne Satan, I used to know some guys who were heavily into the VW transporter and Beetle scene who did the usual "stuff" guys like them do, and usually messed up big time lol, they were very easy characters to turn into something funny

ozzy is in Brütal Legend as the God of Metal (buy upgrades & car parts from him) co-incidentally also another fun & bloody game apart from the tactical stage battle mini-games. (also the game menu design/layout was really amazing)

If Dead Rising was banned in Germany then what about all the war games like call of duty etc?
um is super mario or chuck rock also banned? grin

Oh yes, he was in this cave if i remember right. But it would be even more fun to play as him.

A lot of games are only censored. For example L4D. I buyed this game cause i love this zombie stuff and all what have to do with it. So i hade to use steam and they use this region lock stuff.
If you play in german the blood is green, the dead zombies vanish after they fall at the ground and you cant even shoot body part like arms from them ... this isnt fun.
So if you want to play it in german original and have all the normal stuff like red blood you need a program you dont have to use steam and change the region number this is really crazy for a game you buy, but i hate to play the german version ...
A lot of games use steam, so i buy the most games for the PS3 and import them from austria.

Really? that's really quite shit innit?! It would want me to go out and make the most graphic blood lust game possible and get my moment of fame before they banned it lol shame I don't have the talent grin
Some people do really well pissing people off

I always thought Germany was a lot more liberal, in fact I thought the UK was the Ultimate Nanny State

Yes good idea but you would have a problem in germany, if you want to release a game here and want a official sign on it for the age ( 12, 16, 18 or also below ) you have to give it to an company called USK in germany (like Pegi). They have to play trough the whole game and need to see all the cutscenes so they can give you this sign.
And you have to pay money also. If you dont do this it is automaticly age 18 and in worst case the bann this.
So i think go a more comic and non realistic way is for this case even better.

So if you want to use some stuff like in the picture, even in a very funny way (the way i planed to use them) you have to worry about how the react of such stuff.

Germany isnt very liberal in a lot of points, but a least we dont have a camera in every street (not now...) razz

I hope the picture is also not to much for this forum, You can see even more strange stuff if you look at windows at a shop by walking down the streets.
But if it is, just remove it or tell me.

there are some younger members on the forum but I doubt they'll complain/mind considering how easy it is to access porn via internet these days. I hardly call some collars/manacles & a dildo with bloody red tassels that shocking! razz

Today i tryed this light changing with a testmodel (only for this light test).
Seems like it works, not the way i want right now but i hope i can figure out how it works the way i want.
I really hope so, cause the pictures look strange (left, middle ingame - right render)
I tryed just the lightmap, it is funny to see how this work and the color change a lot.

I think its going to be one of those things you notice more and everyone will just except/not even realise, the fact there's a "trick" will be enough I would of thought

I'm on playing The Night Of The Rabbit and already there's things bugging me and its nothing to do with the graphics, the wow factor goes quite quickly after the first few seconds as you enter the scenes its then down to game play

hmm another alternative would be to create various character outfits with the lighting effects you like (say like the one in the render) for all angles, including walk & switch to x particular outfit on enter action area & have them switch as needed (would make the overall game size much bigger & require a load more vram mind)

@nige: what's bugging you about night of the rabbit?

Yes the most important thing about an adventure is the story.
To use lights and shodows and all that stuff is just to get a player involved into the story.
You could have the greates graphic, but if the story is boring nobody would like it.
Finding a mix out of this and telling a mabybe crazy, nice or serious story player can laugh, fear or feel with the charakters is the biggest part of this.

    @AFRLme
Use more outfits is a nice idea. But like you said it would end up to big. You still have to look to the playability on normal computers. For a few scenes i guess it would work out. But the plan is to use lights in very many scenes in different ways. So if even if you will use only half of about 70 scenes the amout of outfits would be crazy.
There are also places like an casino with also slot machines, so there will be lots of lights. You would need maybe 10 different outfits with a minimum of 8 directions and 8 animation each ... 640 outfits for 1 scene and this only to walk trough it cry ,and to load and unload all this outfits would be insane.

But so far i can say it seems like it really works.
I like the light map, simple to use and looks at some points right now really good.
For example walking trough a shadow from a lamp. This isnt a great thing but this are this little things you can use to make the game look much better and more realistic.
So are the lights at the pictures, i figured out if you just make it in front of them a little darker the effect dosent looks to bad, but i am still testing smile
