PS4 - PS Vita - Xbox One export

  • #10, by stered86 9 years ago Zitieren
I am a developer, but I don't have a devkit yet- First I wanted to be sure Visionaire could be used to do that!

Some questions just to be sure I've got this clear:

1- In order to work on a porting for PS4 I need to contact Sony and ask for permission; if they give me permission, I'll receive a devkit which will integrate Visionaire. Is it right?

2- Talking about the porting itself: would it be a lot of work? I mean, the basic programming and structure of the game would still be valid or should I build it again from the beginning?

Well you need to watch many points:
    - becoming a developer for Sony/MS is pretty hard, better have a publisher near you
    - if you have a dev/test-kit for ps4 you need to create a vis, create a package with that vis and upload it to the ps4, then you can test
    - you need to have a controller concept (you won't get around lua for this). The ps4 has no mouse. You can develop that on a PC.
    - for publishing sony requires a real lot of things you must have and that must be tested

Of course the basic structure will work, but most things need to be thought out with the controller.

The hardest part seems the controller concept. I managed to programme my game almost without using lua, therefore I don't think I would be able to create it on my own. I'll need to find someone!
Anyway, the fact that Visionaire allows us to to export to a PS4 is absolutely great!

    Thanks for your answers, SimonS!

There's now support for creating action parts for various controller buttons. As for movement with a controller, I believe SimonS shared a script on the forum a while back that you can drop into the script section of your project. Also I believe Sebastian spent quite a bit of time looking into creating custom scripts for gamepads, so might be worth talking to him about it.

I assume we're talking about VS5 here. I haven't had time to test it yet as I'm working very hard on my project, but I definitely will check it in the near future.

Thank you very much for the tips and infos!
