Hey guys! Its been a while since the last update, and I know that many people are eagerly awaiting the next one!
Can we get a clue as to when this will be, and what the general fixes/features are?

hmm I'm not sure I'm allowed to divulge all of the specific details (besides I don't know them all & certain things may or may not get added/sorted in time for the next release)

I'm not sure on date either (when it's ready, it's ready), but hopefully it should be some time this year.

as for the updates & fixes...

the engine as far as I know has undergone a complete overhaul to fix certain bugs, reduce cpu/ram/vram consumption & to get it ready for cross platform support. the main goal for the next release is to add cross-platform support for Visionaire Studio, such as Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS & android & of course editors for mac & linux too. In addition to that: a cross platform sound engine, various new features & improvements, a new additional "save as" file type (.veb) in addition to the old one which is supposed to compress files to make them even smaller & reduce loading times etc... new Lua commands, updated video/audio codecs to improve video/audio support & playback quality etc, etc...

I've probably said too much already & as I mentioned above, not everything I've said is particularly set in stone.

Will this be a totally newer version that we need to buy? Or is it like an update?

next version is 3.8 - so yeah anyone who has already paid for the €35 license won't have to pay anything.

€35 license (limited) needs renewing at v4.0.

    ai sus!

I thought it was going to be 4.0 myself & then David told me that it would be 3.8...
I suppose if 2.5D was finished in time for next release, then it could be 4.0?

then again I suppose the overhaul & going cross-platform could also warrant releasing as 4.0 considering how much work they've put in to make it cross-compatible.

I'll be happy to re-buy it as a new version with the improved memory use and stability! Cross platform support, and 2.5D would just be icing!

Good to hear to finally get a linux version, i got a license more then 5 years ago because a linux port was already announced back then but cancelled, which is why i never worked with it, i am only interrested in the linux support.

So if i start a project with the current version on windows, will i be able to build a linux version once version 4 gets out?

...And the more important question: Do you plan something similar to what is pretty common in the business nowadays: A Time where you say: Everyone who buys version 3 now gets a update to 4 for free and if yes, around when is this planned?

BTW: You MailServer is broken, it did not get over my graylisting, as graylisting is a pretty common thing i bet you have a lot of problems with mails not reaching the recipients.

yeah, anything you make in current version (3.7.1) should still work in 3.8, 3.9, 4.0 etc & if it doesn't then I'm sure they will bring out another convertor tool to make it work like they did between 2.x & 3.x versions.

& yeah you will have the option to export for windows, mac, linux etc in the build game section... I do not know if iOS/android will be added to export options generally as certain things need to be done to the builds to make them acceptable for say the apple/mac app store - in the case of iOS that is.

there are potential plans for some new commercial license options but I don't think you can complain about €35 (limited) license fee considering anniversary editions of VS (2.0, 3.0, 4.0 etc) only come around every few years & you get all updates in between for free; v3.0 to 3.9 for example.
