They should be approx half the default game resolution height - give or take x amount of pixels.
The best thing for you to do would be to create a scale chart... Let's say that @ 640 (half your default resolution) is 6 foot / feet (not sure which is correct word). You need to share 640 by 6 to get the amount of pixels there are in one foot, then you need to share that value by 12 to get inches. That way you can create a scale chart - I think (is theory at this point for me).
feet: 640 / 6 = 106.6 (approx)
inches:106.6 / 12 = 8.8 (approx)
