tiny & Tall : Gleipnir

    Hello everyone!

I've been working for the past two weeks on some sort of demo for a playable adaptation of my comics project. It's my first game ever, and I really enjoyed working with Visionaire. I have to thank Andi Liddell's great youtube tutorials.
I'd be very happy to hear your feedback about it. It's a pretty short adventure, experienced adventure games player will probably spend only a few minutes resolving the one and only quest. It's only a first step to see how things work!

    Here's the download link :

    I hope you'll have fun!

    It's pretty nice! smile

I like the graphic, there are a lot of details, lighting, moving camera or foreground parallaxing and it all looks alive that way.
The character is funny, why does he not have hands when is he standing?

Puzzles were good, but it was really short, so i can't tell much.
one thing i've noticed, after i tumbled down the hammer, the hook was still active as hammer ( the character was still trying to reach it )

I think, that it's really good for first game!
Especially +1 for the art style.

About tiny's hands, it's a choice I took while drawing the comics, whenever he's passive or doesn't use his hands, I don't draw them grin Here's an example in the comics : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nNdS2_CP8MY/U_4MM7R9oJI/AAAAAAAAAtc/keXMfYbc9xw/s1600/ENP26.jpg

It's pretty short, indeed... I'm still wondering whether I should add more puzzles to this particular scene, maybe the final version will be lsightly more convoluted!
Thanks for pointing out the problem with the hook! I'll fix that asap.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to try it!

Looks good, how much it takes to create one page like that?

I forgot to mention that it could be good to set items as dragged after selecting them in inventory, it would be more clear to see what item is using.

Will do! My playtester at home had a bit of trouble with that too...

Thanks! That one must've taken a couple of hours smile If you're interested, I've got the first two chapters translated into english there : http://leblogdepins.blogspot.fr/p/english-t-gleipnir.html

I also tried it and it is very cute little game. Good job with graphic. Puzzle was nice. I also discovered that besides hammer animation is still hooked up to a chain also we may take nails over and over again after we "cook" first ones and throw em in furnace. Also, you could create comment set for "illegal" use of items. But all in all good job for a first try smile

Hey, thanks a lot for trying it!
Great points you brought up. The idea behind the nails was to make them "expendables", like useless actions with them would discard them and you'd have to go get some more, with a different comment every time, increasingly frustrated, but I scraped the idea and never got around to edit that out. I'll fix it.
I agree about the comments, I definitely have to add some more, a friend of mine playtested it and noted that I hadn't implemented any dialogue yet, so he used the option "talk to" on about every usable and clickable part of the scene... I have to keep that kind of "let's see if he thought about that" in mind!
    Anyhow, thanks for your time!

Wow! Great! One of the most interesting projects I saw in the last months! Very nice and cozy style of art. I love that scenery and that "be alone in the wood" feeling.

    Thanks a lot!
I try to put the emphasis on the atmosphere, the music theme for the forge has been ready from the day I first drew that scene for my comic, so nearly two years.
It's been a real blast working with VS, I've been waiting to try making this game for a long time now, and I really look forward to creating the next scene smile

Some Kickstarter projects have less material the you. The comics and the game looks very professional. One criticism: the speaking font is too small. You can double or tripple the size of this font.

Well, I'm thinking more and more seriously about setting up an indiegogo project, who knows? At the moment I'm planning the next scene and making a lot of touch-ups to the actual game, including the bilingual menus.
I think this forge scene will be the "tutorial", with optional help boxes to guide a novice player through the first puzzle.
Duly noted for the font, will make it bigger, thanks!
