Particle generator - fade particles?

I'm not sure if there is a way to do this already, but it seems like the ability to fade particles in or out when they are created or destroyed would massively improve the visual feel of the particle generator. At the moment when particles disappear it is quite jarring. For example I tried to create a steam effect and to see a segment of the steam cloud just disappear in one go is not very realistic. Similarly if you could fade in the particles I feel that would be a great.

Bumping this. I can't seem to find any setting/curve for fading particles. How can there be a particle system without a proper fade is beyond me.

I added it to the todo list thing David created on one of those planning platform/app things. Whether it will get sorted out for next version or not is another matter entirely. I want to be able to control transparency of both particles & animations. The object visibility action part only seems to affect the image linked to an object but not animations or particles linked to it.

I do not use particles as they seem to complex. I found that creating the "particle" as an animation and adding on top works as well (not the best way but hey..it works)

I actually need this system for smooth... shower scene. The water or steam should be pops up from the nozzle slowly, but it can't.

As brut said I can do it by animation but copy and paste same images for million times seems really time eater.

    Ah sorry...

There is actually a detailed few pages on the particles. I didn't write it though.

The link on the manual page is what I wrote when I created the manual page.

P.S: when I say a few pages, I actually mean quite a lot. I believe Simon wrote the particle pages, or maybe it was David - I forget. They've been there for ages.

P.P.S: I believe Simon intends on replacing / updating the particle system in a future update so that it's possibly easier to use yet more flexible. Something like that.

    Cool! Thanks!

Would be nice to have some basic presets for rain, snow and fire. Would be also nice to can export/import particle settings to share it with other users...

No problem. By the way, the particles stuff was linked under the "all about" section of the manual index on the wiki.
