But the really important question is: when? ;o)

same answer as before: "it'll be ready, when it's ready!"

I'm British, I don't get jokes, - or puns - only morbid, dry, dark humor for me please!

Yeah because I was told a few eeks by one dev but corrected by another who said: "sometime in Q1" - so anytime from now, up to a few months, but hopefully sooner rather than later. wink

Are there any plans for a features list before(!) the release of the new version? Just something rough to see where we are going?! smile

Currently there is no actual active changelog available, so I can only tell you what I have been told by Simon, Alex & David via email, skype or Asana (an online project management/planning system thingy) - most of the things I know can be found on this thread or on a couple of others. I'm not allowed to specify an actual release date or certain things as some things could be subject to change if not done on time or if they cause problems with other features etc.

As I have already mentioned the upcoming releases main feature will hopefully be cross-platform support which will hopefully include stable build options for (windows, mac, linux, ios & android) - I do not know if stable mac & linux versions of the editor will be available/ready or not. The release may include 2.5D support (if done in time) & should also include a new sound engine (added for cross-platform reasons), some new exclusive to vs lua commands, a new built in Lua script editor based on the scintilla source code (I think), some bug fixes & overhauled engine in general to reduce required memory/processing power & so on... This is just some of the stuff I know about, but nothing is 100% guaranteed.

If someone happened to buy Visionaire now, just before the new version 4.0 is released, what is the policy regarding upgrading to v.4, is it paid or free?

I'm not sure what's happening in regards to that & I've no idea if rest of team have decided yet either as we are apparently waiting until the next release is about ready before sorting out what's happening in regards to licenses & fees etc.

If the next release is 4.0 then a fee will be required to upgrade but again I don't know if recent license holders will be subject to a fee or reduced fee or whatnot as I don't even know if the limited license will be staying at €35 or not; you've got to admit that €35 for a year or two's worth of updates is a bit on the cheap side, no? Especially considering you can release as many games with it as you like without paying a single cent more.

I agree with you regarding a year or two of updates,it was not clear for me what will happen if a NEW user would buy now, as it so close to the new release. As you said, instead of complicating things, better wait and see what and when the new version will be available.

Any more recent update on a shipping date for V4?

    or even a ballpark?

    1-2 months? 6 months? 2015?

I'm worried that all the work im putting in might be wasted, or at least more than i need to if V4 has loads of improvements?
