Disappearing sound

    Having a strange problem with missing sound;

    Sometimes when I run my game (compiled) it starts with no sound at all. Nothing I can do brings sound back other than closing and re-opening the game.

    At first I thought it was a problem with the Steam launcher, as testing for Steam was the first time I noticed the issue. But now I see it happening (less frequently) on other builds. It happens around 30% of the time running through Steam, and around 5% running normally.

    I'm using Visionaire 4.2. all sound files are .ogg. Building and playing on Windows.

    Any ideas?

    Also have that issue sometimes. At least since the last build or the one before. If you check the log file then it will (providing you have "info" level set) mention something about sound failing to start. It just seems to occur randomly. Hopefully the devs will be able to sort it out.

    never had this issue on mac os x and VS 4.2 . Game wasnt compiled though..

    It's just a random occurrence. Has also occurred when running the game through the editor.

    Ok, so I have some new information – my games first scene is now a blank menu with the following 'at beginning of scene' actions – Play video 'splash_1', Play video 'splash_2', Show menu 'main_menu'

    On the occasions when the game starts with no sound the two splash videos are played (without any sound) then the screen goes blank. Nothing happens until I press 'escape', at which point the main_menu finally shows (I don't have 'escape' mapped to do anything).

    When the game starts with sound the transition the the main menu is also fine.

    Can this possibly shed any light on what is happening?
