Adventure game trailers?

So I have been working on my game for a while now, and am ready to make a few trailers, however, I noticed that all the tips online from professional trailer makers are for action games.

Any ideas as to how someone could make a good trailer from a (slow-ish) adventure game?
(I guess, by definition of allowing the player to take one's time, it is kinda slow by default)

More of a general discussion than a question, per se.

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Just watch some other point & click adventure game trailers for the more well know games. A teaser trailer would probably be a better idea for a general trailer. Something fairly short & cinematic rather than showing gameplay. Work something around your general story-line.

If you want one with gameplay, then do that as a separate trailer afterwards.

They mostly seem to use cutscenes or unique content that was specifically created for the trailer that's not in the games.

Some of my favorite game trailers are by FrogWares who create the Sherlock Holmes games which can be played like point & click games or in first person.

They have a few different trailers for Crimes & Punishment, but that one is by far my favorite; actually you know what... here's a couple more Crimes & Punishments trailers for good measure. wink

    Okay, cool, thanks!

You can view the trailer here (unlisted)

For some reason, the screen recorder came out kinda fuzzy, so I'm thinking on purposely stylizing the trailer as if it was from the 90s.  Like Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, etc.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

EDIT:  Also, my game's protagonist is silent, and there isn't any voice acting, which makes the trailer much harder to get right...

PS: Crime and punismnents is an Awesome game! smile

Hmm, you could self narrate it or use text narration. I would recommend sticking with cutscene parts rather than gameplay for your main trailer. Or you could create some unique that you haven't recorded directly from the game itself. Or you could mix & match. Just need something that catches the eye of the viewer that can tell enough of the games story/plot without giving everything away.
