Which resolution do you use in your game?

    Hi everybody,
I startet my game development with 1280x720 and the game looks fine. Because of my original drawings I could easily switch to 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. It is not to late because it is a early state of development.
Which resolution do you use in your game? And what is the resolution, the most adventure games of today use?
    Best regards
    Manuel

Hi, i would suggest you to switch to fullHD. I think that's what's considered to be a standart now. Most people has 16:9 monitors, but even for people that doesn't have them it looks better to have empty black space on the top and bottom than on the sides.

1920x1080 (1080p) is standard size these days - well for modern 2D games at least & most 3D games too - unless they have 4K resolution support, but even those have 1080p support for the majority of users who don't have or want to spend $$$ on a 4K monitor.

1366x768 would also scale up fine on a 1080p monitor without creating any black bands around the game. 1280x720 would as well, but it's better to go with 1920x1080 unless you are creating a retro looking pixel game, then you would be better off using a lower resolution like 320x240.

    My favourites:
1920 x 1080 for 16:9 High-Res Adventures (most used resolution at the moment)
    320 x 180 for 16:9 Pixel-Adventure
    320 x 200 for 16:10 Pixel-Adventure

If you look in the Steam Stats, then you find only two most used resolutions:
    1. 1920 x 1080 (43 % of the users worldwide)
    2. 1366 x 768 (24 % of the users worldwide)
    3. 1600 x 900 (6 % of the users worldwide)
    4 ... all other resolutions < 4 %

PS: 800 x 600 is too high for pixel art and too low for not-pixelated fine art
Pixel art with 640 x 480 is still possible: http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/games/unavowed/

    Thank you, everybody.
I think I will switch to FullHD, because my graphics are big enough.

I guess it just gets shrinked down then... (with possible missing details in the art)

Visionaire Studio automatically scales your game to fit the available surface area when in fullscreen. It keeps the same aspect ratio which means that black borders will be automatically added vertically/horizontally on a display that has a different aspect ratio than your default game resolution.

Window mode will automatically display at default game resolution size unless a resolution is specified in the config.ini file.
