Mac and HTML5 build exports are 'outdated'

  • #1, by drgeert Thursday, 27. November, 18:06 A week ago Quote
Could this please be updated again.

When I upload the zipped HTML build to itch.io, the game does not work in a way similar to about a year ago when an update was also needed.

They are updated online. You need be online on your build computer, so it can download the files if it displays "outdated".

Thanks, makes me wonder what the issue is then.
It plays in the player on my Mac and I can make an export, which now stops playing right after start when uploaded to itch.io as a zip, which I've done just this way before.
    Any advice maybe?

is there an error in the dev tools you get with f12? You can try deleting the old files in C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Visionaire Editor\platform\

Many thanks Simon, this has helped.

Only now, the game does not start the same way as it does on the player in my computer.

It shows the main menu but when I select 'New Game' the first scene loads but the start sequence is not played and no characters show up.
In the player on my computer, it runs just fine!

Could it be that things are in my browser cache that suggest a certain game state? (In other words, is it worth my time to find out how to empty the cache without emptying my whole browser history, because I'd love to keep that intact)

Or could there be an error in the way I autosave the game?

For the web version? Does it stop running? You might find something in the developer tools (F12).

Does it work on your computer if you delete all bookmarks and saves?

No it does not stop running, in Apple Safari it kind of skips the first game sequence and certain set up parts.

I've now tried it in Chrome as well and there it runs fine.

Seems like it has something to do with browser caching, doesn't it?

Probably you disabled LocalStorage in Safari? Then it can't save. It's also a security thing, so websites can't track you.
