Is there a way to change a sound's "balance" or "panning" without changing (or defining!) its volume? In the editor, these options can only be selected together. Is there a script that solves my problem?

What do you mean they can only be selected together? Typically when you pan a sound it's volume will appear to change because you are pushing it away from the center so it will usually appear to get quieter.
