So I thought it would be to good break up the forum just being about bugs and how to's all the time. So what are some of your favourite adventure game puzzle?

    I'll start.

Off the top of my head two of these are my favourites.

One is when you are thrown underwater attached to a statue and you're drowning in Monkey Island. The solution is as simple as picking up the statue and walking out. So simple yet seemingly too obvious. Also making it hilarious.

In DOTT, you need to warm up a little hamster. So you have to give it a sweater, you do this by putting a regular sweater in a washing machine in the present, and in the future it shrinks to the correct size.

There's so many more but I'll leave it for other people to mention grin

Haha thats actually really interesting (serious) Unfortunate sometimes that game translations can suffer when word play is involved heh.

My favorite puzzles (not really puzzles I guess) were the insult sword fights in monkey 1 & 3. My memory is not so great (I hate flashing light memory games) but at least I could use logic / deduction when replying to the insults when I forgot which answer went with which insult.

Some of the amusing puzzles I liked were in Simon the Sorcerer. How to get through the door made of chocolate? Look for Rapunzel > give her a kiss > watch her change into a pig > use pig on chocolate door. Joyous fun.

It was a really good game (depending on who you ask). For me at the time I thought it was well written. There was so much attention to detail put into the pixel graphics. It had lots of wacky story-lines & witty humor, mostly in large part to Chris Barrie (smeg head rimmer from the uk sci-fi comedy tv series red dwarf of the 80's/90's). Most of the music score was really nice too - I especially liked the music in the snowy mountain scenes.

There were some other puzzles in the game that required use of lots of different action verbs, as you could wear, consume (eat / drink) various things you came into contact with (potions, food, beer, etc). One other puzzle involving eating something was how to get past the bastard Jack Frost snow man that barred way to some castle thing up in the mountains > eat some XXX-Tra strong mints in front of the snowman & melt its face off. Simple.

Haha sounds great. Damn. I wish I had more access to these games when I was a kid. I may have to play it sometime soon, but first to finish Paradigm haha.

If you do then I recommend getting the talkie cd version for ScummVM as there's no subtitles for the gog version. Also in ScummVM you can enable 2xSai / super eagle graphic filters etc as an alternative to playing with the regular pixel graphics.

I used to have the original cd versions of Simon 1 & 2 for the pc. If I remember correctly the boxset came with a mouse mat - for some reason the terrible Simon 3 (3D) didn't come included in the package - all good though as I heard it was pretty shit. As for Simon 4 & 5, they were developed by completely different studios & are pretty bad from what I've seen & heard.

I'm hoping the new Simon being developed by storybeasts will turn out better than the last 3. Apparently they have been getting advice / ideas / pointers (whatever) from the developers of the first 2 games (I don't count the third) & have even got Chris Barrie on board to voice Simon (if they can raise the capital in the upcoming kickstarter campaign).
