    Hi,

I am receiving this error when I try to copy my sprites. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

My laptop has a 64 bit Operating System, 16 GB RAM and 2.80 GHz CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M and the graphic cards are up to date.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about that error, I believe it displays in the log file on game launch for almost everyone. I get the error too & I think it's more of a warning than an error.

Or are you talking about a popup error warning before Visionaire Studio crashes?

I do receive a pop up error warning before the Visionaire Studio crashes. It is the unhandled exception error. "an unhandled exception has occurred, press abort to terminate the program...."

I updated the drivers and tried everything. I really want to tinker with this program but so far it is not working for me.

Could you explain what you mean by copying sprites? What do you do exactly in the editor

I don't believe that's anything to do with the error mentioned in the log. Could you please provide some specs for the machine you are using Visionaire Studio please? Don't forget to mention which OS you are using & which version of VS you are currently using, cheers.

Do you have another computer you could test Visionaire on to see if it crashes in that with the same version of VS & the same ved project file?

Finally, when it pops up the unhandled exception error does it give you an option to generate a dump file or report the error? If it does allow you to create a dmp file, then you could send that off to SimonS for further analysis as it should tell him why it keeps crashing.

This time I received this error: Caught unhandled unknown exception; terminating. It doesn't give me an option to create a dump file. But I managed to create one using the task manager. Now I have this file: viseditor.dmp . But the file size is quite large. It's 3.83 gigabytes. Is this is the right file?

I will try to upload it. But it will take some time.

My OS is as follows: Windows 8.1 64 bit Operating System, 16 GB RAM and 2.80 GHz CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M

I am using the visionaire studio 4.2.5

The error happens like this: I insert some number of sprites then the sprite screen goes quite small. (half its original height) then whenever I try to save the file it completely crashes.

No, that file size is completely incorrect, it should be quite small. Sometimes VS gives you an option to generate one, but it's a bit hit & miss & seems to depend on how it crashes. Don't bother uploading the file.

Quite a few people have reported issues when using nvidia cards, memory leaks & so on. Do you have access to another computer or laptop for testing on? If not then you will either have to persevere or wait until the new editor is ready - I don't have a clue how long it will be before it's ready as Simon is pretty swamped with other things too. I'm hoping it will be sometime soon-ish though.

Quick question: does the editor appear to run sluggishly for you?

The editor runs quite smoothly. Besides the crashing everything else seems to be normal.

Unfortunately, I don't have another computer to test it at the moment.
