Resolution trouble

I wanted to make my game fullscreen 1920x1080
In the Game settings I set it to 1920x1080 but when i run it, it changes to 1280x1080 which has the black bars on both sides.

My background piture is the right size, in Options I activated fullscreen and widescreen support and I also tried using the config.ini file, but I can't get rid of the black bars.
    Any ideas?

btw, I am using the demo version of visionaire

Visionaire Studio automatically scales the surface area of the game in fullscreen mode to your desktop resolution. You need to be using a monitor or laptop with the resolution set to 1920x1080 for it to display @ 1920x1080. The black bars are added automatically when the engines scales up or down as it scales in proportion based on the default game resolution.

    Well, I am using a 1920x1080 monitor.
The problem is that each time I run the game it changes the Resolution settings to 1280x1024

All sounds good to me - unless it's an issue with your NVIDIA graphics card, but I don't think it will be that.

Have you tried updating your GPU drivers? Also could you post some screenshots of your game & the editor - the game tab for instance.

Quick note: the backgrounds for your scenes & menu scenes need to be a minimum width & height of your default resolution. Images smaller than the default resolution will not automatically scale up to the default resolution & images larger than the default resolution will make the scene become scrollable.

Quick question: are you using the secondary monitor as your primary display device or the 15.6" screen of your laptop? The game will automatically open up on the default display device & will scale the surface area to the default display device when in fullscreen mode.

It won't display at 1920x1080 on your laptop screen then.

15.6" screen should have a max resolution of 1366x768 unless it has hd / ultra res capabilities like some of the mac laptops (retina). A native 1080p screen is between 23" & 24". Maybe VS is having issues with trying to scale the game to 1080p on such a small screen?

    OK, now I understand.
But is there any way how to make my game 16:9 using this screen?

Your screen is irrelevant. The default game resolution you specify in the game tab is what the base resolution will be for the game. The engine then scales the game up or down to each individual users display resolution & will automatically add black bars horizontally or vertically if needed as the engine keeps proportion when scaling.

My recommendation for if you want to actually work at 1080p is to buy a cheap 23" or 24" monitor which has a native resolution of 1080p. I work on my secondary hd monitor but often test on my laptop as I don't like constantly toggling between my laptop screen & secondary monitor as the primary display device as it often messes up my desktop icons! grin

P.S: the engine is not really adding black bars as such. It's the background color of the player window. The engine doesn't stretch the game backgrounds / images to fit the entire screen resolution as that would just look weird.
