Player Disappears after Way-System Change

  • #1, by ygmantellThursday, 03. August 2017, 13:58 7 years ago
So, basically, my character will disappear after changing the waysystem.  If I click somewhere, the screen will scroll to where I clicked very slowly in about 10 pixel intervals.

I have changed the way-system midgame (via action part) in the past and it works fine, but in this one instance, the player just disappears!

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks so much!

EDIT:  I made sure the player is within the borders before and after the change, so that's not the issue...

Which version are you using ? Are you on Mac or on Windows ?

On Windows, using 5.01 (Build 1189).

Again, it is only in this one instance, and works fine when I change the way system in other parts of the game.

    Thanks so much!

You need to check your way system for repeat points and intersections, some corner cases can crash.

Also there should be a dump, that would help.

All my waysystems are perfect rectangles, so there wouldn't be any overlaps or anything that you mentioned. (And the waypoints are all in a straight line).

And you can see/download the dump via the link below.  (I apologize if using Google Drive was not the correct thing to do.)

Thank you so much for your help!

It's a crash in the graphics driver. Try updating it, it's probably one of these Intel Media Accelerators...

Updated it, and still the same thing happens...

EDIT:  I can still see a little white rectangular thing "animating" when the screen is trying to scroll.  The character is completely white, so it looks like it might be an issue with scaling, but after checking, there's nothing different about this new way system that would cause an issue.
I don't want the character to scale, so it's just set to -1.

EDIT 2:  The screen also oddly started shaking before scrolling.  Kinda like the earthquake effect...

I would probably need to take a look at your project before I can say anything to that... Graphics crashes are pretty complicated.

Well, Okay, google drive is glitching out on me and not letting me upload the game folder.
I did, however, figure out a workaround, by making a duplicate of the scene with the other way system and just switch to that scene with no fade, and it works fine during gameplay.

I guess I'll just stick with that for now.

Thank you, for all your help, I really appreciate it.

Okay, now it's happening in another scene.  With no way system changes.  No idea what's up.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

EDIT:  The project can be downloaded here.  I have the issue in the Lighthouse_2_INT scene.
Obviously, my project is my own creation that I am providing for support, and for no other purpose.

    Thanks!
