Particles System Images in Visionaire - How do they work?

    Hello everyone

I've experimented with the Visionaire particle system quite a bit now. I've also watched several videos/tutorials about particles in general. How they work, what the attributes do and so on. Sadly I just experimented with the particles in my pixel art game; so in a very low resolution. I've managed to make a decent steam/smoke cloud coming of a pan but I'm not that happy with my electric sparks (literarily just pixels which "squirt" out of a cable).

My questions relay on the particle images. How exactly do they work? When I load a 16x16 pixel particle image of a heart, should the particles look like that specific heart? Does it work with transparent images? And how would a particle image of rain look like? Is it just one small line representing one rain drop or can I make a bigger image with many smaller and bigger lines?

P.S. I could share my two particle systems. if anyone is interested, leafe a comment. ;-)

im also experimenting with particles (last evening) and tried to make some fireflies. I made a 3x3 px png where the centeres pixel was white and the pixel aroubd slightly transparent to make it look like it glows.
As far as i tetestestd the image itself never shiwed up until i resized it in the particles-properties. So: 1px in the image is not 1px in the particle effect. Depends on the range you set.

I noticed it myself, that 1px in the image is not 1px in the particles size attribute. I guess that’s why it's so tricky to make it look "natural". (Especially with very low resolutions.) I had also huge issues with the force parameters. It was a lot of “try and error”. ;-) I'll try to make a water fountain or something like a fire or explosion if that’s even possible. (I’ve seen explosions in another particle system engine.)

you can use gravity to make the particles fall or get sucked to a direction. I think it was called "force" *imperial sound*
also it should be possible to make some kind of explosionsmoke.
