Getting prepared for steam- how?

Hi! I'm currently in planning and ideas stage of making my game and I was wondering how should I get prepared for steam? I'm not sure what's involved in creating achievements or cards/badges so I don't know how to write them into my storyboard. I also don't know how age ratings work on steam and if I need to account for that too and/or how. Any advice or links to tutorials on the subject would be greatly appreciated. smile

A'llo I wouldn't really concern yourself with Steam just yet. I would focus more on getting a working prototype of your game sorted before looking into steam. I'm sure all the documentation you need for the Steam side of steam will be available on their website. As for VS side, you need to get some kind of steam wrapper thing from steam which will let you access / updates stats & achievements for your game via some Lua script functions...

But... as I already said: I wouldn't worry about it too much for now. wink

Ah ok, I thought I would need to take all this into consideration as it could affect what a character does or how "adult" the game is?

I guess it would be up to steam to review your game to decide if suitable &/or what age rating etc. Maybe there's a guideline document / article somewhere on steam website. To be honest I'm not sure.

There are a few members on here, that have published games on steam, so maybe one of them will see this thread & be able to provide their insight into the matter.
