Character Animation Index Bug? 5RC2

  • #1, by dionousWednesday, 30. August 2017, 21:19 7 years ago
    Hi all,

I think there is some issue with the Character Animation Index that VS allocates to the animations. It is difficult to troubleshoot though, because there is no way to see which Index number is allocated to each animation, any ideas?

For starters, i'd suggest to show the index number assigned to each animation from the editor. This way we can troubleshoot any issues.

It works based on order & only applies to idle, walk, talk & random animations etc. Manually started character animations don't count & should display regardless of current animation index value.

Example... let's say you have 2 walk animations with the same direction in the same outfit, the animation higher up the list should be animation index 0 & the one below it will be 1 & so on.

Thanks AFRLme, that's correct, but for some reason the proper index it's not detected always correctly when using the Change Anim Index action part.

I checked the explorer in eAnimations and i saw that all AnimationModelAnimIndex (not sure if it is the same though) are set to -1. Tried to change it there manually but no success.

I'm not a big fan of using it to be honest as it doesn't always work. Find it less hassle to just create a new outfit & switch between outfits as needed. At least you know it will always work that way.

So you always switch outfits even between e.g. different talk animations? (angry, sad, etc..)

Oh the bloddy animation-index! I didn't manage to get it to run correctly and have been trying since version 3.7.  The selection of the index by the action part does not work. Apparently the animations are played alternately and not according to the selection.

Especially for talk animations the use of the index would make more sense than an outfit change.
It would be nice if someone could provide some tips...

Yeah, i think something is buggy here, hope devs can check it.

For now, it seems that changing outfit is the only thing working, but i guess is not the most efficient way.

I just tested the animation index again after reading wimf's post about it.
Changing between two talk animations by changing the index to 0 or 1 seems to work als it should. (Yeah! Thank you devs!) But I can't call a third animation in the same direction. Animation index = 2 gets ignored.

Edit: ok, forget it. Whatever I did different now, it just worked for 6 animations of the same direction. Each animation showed up when it should.
Thank you so much for fixing this!  :-)
