Build Game: Scale Resolution

Is the Scale Resolution tab on the Build Game menu supposed to to anything more than change the game resolution size? If not, then what is the difference in this and merely going to the Game Settings tab and changing the resolution yourself before export?

The default game resolution is what is set in the main game tab. Basically everything you create will be set to that resolution.

I think the export option actually scales everything up/down to the resolution you set. Not 100% sure though as I've not tested it.

I do know that adjusting your game resolution via the game tab will not scale down the graphics etc & everything will stay same size, thus creating scrolling scenes/menus etc if images are larger than resolution.

It seems to do the same thing on both. The Scale Resolution box on export merely modifies the screen resolution, and does not affect images at all. It seems that the word "scale" is not appropriate as nothing is scaled up or down.

Hmm I thought it would have scaled everything in proportion like the engine does when you play on a smaller/larger desktop resolution than the game default resolution.

No, it's not a bug, you need to delete the tmp folder in your game folder, because the files get cached. Also I don't believe it's working very good, I had some artifacts. May look over it some time. But that feature is not used much, because it does not make much sense, except when the machine can't handle the size of the graphics, and I haven't seen that case yet.

Deleting the /tmp file does solve the issue, but as stated it is "not working very good". Seems objects Z-position gets messed up, x/y positions are askew, and the TTF fonts remain their original size. I suspect as the mobile-export feature gets fine-tuned, this feature may be used more often with the hope that a bit of scale/compression will boost mobile performance.

Are there problems with your mobile performance ? Problems with the scaling is that many things can't get properly scaled, positions per Lua and such can not really be scaled. Also the shaders have sometimes position.

Automatic scale to desktop resolution while playing a game seems to scale correctly, regardless of actual game resolution.

But I'm assuming that it doesn't work in the same way as the export resolution conversion process?
