3DS geometry file for scenes - VS5 (For SimonS)

Would it be possible to add a 3DS geometry file for each scene, so that a 3D character can walk and project his shadow correctly in the surrounding environment?

Wintermute Engine (no longer maintained) had this feature almost 10 years ago. I've attached two screenshots to the message showing the effect, taken from a Wintermute 3D Tech Demo created by user DREAMWEB back in December 2007.

This would really be a lifesaver for people designing a 2.5D game with 3D playable characters (like AkcayKaraazmak and myself grin )

The question is of course addressed mainly to SimonS.

    Thanks

I thought it was how they were going to do it originally but obviously not roll
But yeah I could do the 3ds geometry in Sketchup and the camera would line up in WME

I'd imagine the more people who use the 3D option and make a viable game the more likely features and wishes will be added

We are currently a 2D engine and more 3D features would require changing more parts of the system. Also the problem with wintermute is, it doesn't look really good. So it would require much better quality, I guess it would be a longshot. The walksystem is something I'm not to keen on redoing in the 3D.

It was just a wish, don't worry.
I already imagined it would be a long shot.
