haha. Looks quite amusing. Perchance have you happened to play Lure of the Temptress by Revolution Software? (it's free on GOG). If I remember correctly you start in a cell & are guarded by some kind of creature that you have to knock out or make drop its key - it's a long time since I played it (amiga 600) so I'm a bit hazy on the details. Anyway... this reminds me of that somewhat.

Just went ahead and watched a bit of a playthrough and whoooops that is preeetty similiar even the creatures look almost the same although not as silly and better animated. I swear i have never played this before but, oh well, guess the "Escape the Prison" setting is pretty obvious for an adventure game smile

Yes i played it and liked it a lot! Last game i played was Distraint by Jesse Markkonen who's an absolute artistic mastermind and i would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the Cat Lady. It's only been released and is like 5 bucks on Steam. Made with the Clickteam Fusion engine.

looks cool so far. love the art style smile

You're too kind smile I'm really not that self conscious when it comes to my artistic abilities so thanks a lot smile

I lack no artistic abilities at all when it comes to artwork. I am pretty adept in photoshop at editing, manipulating & piecing together existing images though.

My strength lies more in logic, development & scripting. I also have some knowledge of music production & sound design (self taught).

I'm currently playing Rebel Galaxy. Can't be bothered with adventure games at the minute & fancied playing something where I get to blow things up. It's a fun game, but everything takes place in space & you can only control the ship on the x-axis, which is a bit whatever. It's like a 2D game wrapped in 3D world (strange).

Speaking of space based games I'm looking forward to this one. It looks really nice.

As for your game, yes the cell scene really does remind me of Lure of the Temptress. I think it's the general look of the art & the monster thing. If you don't already have an account on gog.com, then I recommend signing up as they give you about 10 games or so for free just for signing up, which include Lure of the Temptress & Beneath a Steel Sky. Both games are by Rev Soft. who made the Broken Sword games.

Distraint reminds of Lone Survivor. Side scroll 2D horror adventure game. grin But it seems like doesn't have combat system. Also no voice acting as well.

Speak about Space games, I liked Ratchet & Clank series. But only thing I played was Going Commando. Well, it's more likely space theme action adventure game. But I like the creativity inside the game.

Spaceship? Well, I don't forget Star Fox series.

I checked Lure of the Temptress. .... At least protagonist's gender is different.

I think i saw pictures of that one around. Looks really cool, i like the graphics style smile

Oh i'm a frequent customer on GOG.com, i rather not look at my library or i'll see how much money i spent already though grin But the last thing i got there was Planescape Torment, which is an excellent Game.

I remember getting Beneath a Steel Sky and the old Broken Sword Games too! I never really got into Broken Sword though, because it's just a bit too "wordy" for my taste. But one of the Key Animators who worked on that Game (Mark Povey) once worked in my dad's animation house for a commercial project here in Switzerland for a short time.

I WILL play Lure of the Temptress now of course, since i unknowingly ripped it off grin

Quick word of warning... it's easy to die in Lure of the Temptress. Yes, just like those bloody Sierra games. Seems it was a thing back in the 80's / 90's era of almost all p+c adventure games that weren't made by LucasArts.

I got quite far when I played it, then I ended up dying at some point & had not saved it in some time & well... yeah... I couldn't be bothered to redo all the stuff I'd not saved.

The first Broken Sword game is the best one out of all the ones that's come out. Revolution for me are well known for attention to detail & I believe everything in the game has its own unique interaction animation. Also it featured a really nice walk animation where the character had begin & end walk animations as well as stepping & rotation. Also the character would not walk if you clicked too close to the character as there wasn't enough distance for him to take a step. It's one of my favorite adventure games, however my all time favorite is Simon the Sorcerer by Adventuresoft - another UK based (ex) development company.
