I think they've always had modified games over in Germany Nige. Even the early Wolfenstein games supposedly had all the painting potraits of Hitler removed & the nazi armbands were edited with another insignia. Also green blood in some games too I believe?
Germany & Australia seem to be really bad when it comes to game censorship. There's a few other countries too where a lot of games are banned or have watered down censored versions or even complete segments of games cut out entirely, but I can't remember which countries off the top of my head.
It's insane that games get targeted so much for censorship, compared to other forms of media, such as: movies, tv series (on certain channels/networks), books, graphic novels/comics &, songs.
