You could technically create your own save system using quicksave system ...
I'm not sure about displaying text/savename or thumbnails though.

I spoke to David a little while ago about adding save/load game support to interfaces too but I don't know if it's possible or whether it's a lot of work/hassle to add.

I'll speak to him again as it's something I'm also interested in, as I'm sure other people would also be interested in it too.
