Precision for direction selection

I'd like to have a character within my game to have more walking angles.
But is there any overall impact to changing the precision to be 15 degrees (instead of 45 degrees).

For example, what if I was to set the precision as 15 degrees, but i only setup 8 angles for each character, would that have any impact?

Extreme example, Which means, I could (in theory) set the precision to 1 degrees, but only assign 4 angles for each character and this have no effect on the performance of the game?

Only directions you add animations for get taken into account. If you don't have an animation assigned to a specific direction then it should automatically use the next closest direction animation.
