Characters completely black when using a lightmap.

As far as I can tell I'm using everything correctly. I'm just using black and white, but the characters are completely black every time. I even used a completely white lightmap to test and got the same result.

I'm wondering if it's the screen dimensions that are affecting it. This room is basically 4x the screen resolution of the game; could that be the reason?

Black is complete darkness. So don't use 100% black. Also don't use hard edges because that wont look good.

Suppose I didn't clearly state the problem, sorry. The characters are completely black no matter where they are in the room. It's as if I put in a lightmap that was completely black, only the one I put in is mostly white with dark shading at various points.

I think i had this problem once too, don't really remember where the issue was. Do you have an image with some color with gradient to alpha or you have a solid color as the basic background? I think you need that.

Alright, appeared to have solved it. I took the background and scaled it to 50%, then made a lightmap of the same size. Visionaire scales up lightmaps, so it works.

This was an exceptionally large room. I'm wondering if this had anything to do with the problem. Anyway, thanks for the input guys.

Hello, the lightmap tutorial (part 6) in the old tutorials is still relevant.

You can make the lightmap 25% of the scene size without problems ( the smaller the better)
