(solved).-Forcing walk animations to do a full cicle before stopping.

    (never mind, I solved it)
I was wondering if it's possible to force the walk animations do full cycles (like a wait for animation to finish)
I'm a bit annoyed to see the characters restart the walk cycle every time I click on a spot while the character is walking, or once the character stops on a spot and the animation is on a frame quite not appropriate to switch to the standing pose.

    Is it possible?.

The first issue you mentioned that the char restarts its animation while still walking should be fixed since a few versions i guess.

The second issue is a bit tricky because you don't know which frame is played last before the character stops his walk.I don't know if the spine integration would work because these type of characters are build up from several images like legs, etc and are animated through an json file. Maybe this would animate the steps inbetween walk and standing better? (never tested)

As Sebastian mentioned, the first issue should have been fixed for all 4.x versions as far as I'm aware. It should only restart the walk cycle animation if you set a new destination that forces the character to change direction immediately.

You could keep track of the current walk frame & direction by updating a pair of values inside of each walk animation frame. You could then use said values to play a animation on character stop based on current character direction & then force it to play the animation from the frame value that was last listed. How smooth it would look I have no idea as I've not tested it before, but in theory it should work.

humm, I would have to do a clean install and see if a bad install is causing the problems. I also have issues with the action areas suddenly not being editable.

You are using the latest build of Visionaire Studio? Should be 4.2.5.

Have you updated GPU drivers recently? Might be those that are causing issue as I had a few problems with editor after I tried upgrading from windows 8 to 10 & especially after I updated my GPU drivers to latest ones. I ended up reverting back to windows 8.1 & installing slightly older drivers.

Having said that, the action areas section in the way system tab has always been a bit dodgy! Hopefully it should be fixed for the next update.

It seems to be a problem somewhere with the OS or a hard drive fragmentation, I noted sometimes visionaire loads and plays all animations flawlessly and then it seems to struggle, I'm guessing the restart effect I mentioned before is actually a stutter on the system.

Well, I've no idea about that. I used to get loading stutters on my previous laptop, but that laptop was a bit... shit, for lack of a better word. Not had any issues with animations on this laptop. Almost all of them load fast & play smoothly without a problem. It's only in the extreme cases they have loading lag, such as animations with tons of frames or animations that are same size or larger than the default game resolution (1080p) as they tend to have massive file-sizes per frame. PNG can cause lagging too as the file-sizes of those can be quite large even for smallish canvas sizes.

Do you not have access to another machine you can test your game on?

    Not at the moment.
I have large animations that fit the whole screen, I have one with three layered animations razz, it may be possible that that is causing the stutter.

Maybe a virus scanner, or a music service like spotify... or the search-index function? smile
