Snoop Animation

I tried to make this "hotspot" thing in 4.0 beta. I use the hotspot wiki-tutorial.
The animation or picture appears after pressing the space-button and stops after release. That's good news.

But the position of the snoop animation is ON THE INTERFACE BAR in every case. It's only ONE picture at the same place (don't mind how many objects use this snoop option at the same time).
My interface is a bar on the button of the screen with an absolute offset of 690 px and a height of 80px (I used the demo game bar with it's picts). My snoop picture never leave this interface bar. It doesn't matter which coordinates I used in the scene effect animation position tab - from -1 to -1 up to the midpoint 370, 580 of the object.

try creating a new interface & don't assign it to anything... just name it something like ---- & try setting this to absolute offset & add the hotspot animations to it. I don't know why it would stick to your interface. The animations should be positioned wherever you add them. The hotspot animations should be pretty small also. & remember that the position is based on the top left corner of the animation image.

I think the problem might be:
The interface of the hotspot-demo "int_main" lays over the whole picture. It's only a blank transparent level, right? The coordinates of the animations are on the screen all the time.

MY interface is - to save memory (why should I use a huge transparent png without any reason??) - only a small bar without transparency. It doesn't cover the screen completely, it is placed at the bottom side.

Should I use an interface picture of 1280x 720 px (up to 90% transparent) to avoid this snoop position error?

But I will test your speedy advice next time - thanks for it.
Btw: it doesn't depend on the Vis version, my interface hotspot don't run in 4.1 neither.

hmm I placed the snoop animations into the int_main interface as a button set as an action area. The interface has no background set, nor have I set the interface size or anything.

I have no idea what you are doing wrong as it worked perfectly on my first attempt.

Would you be willing to send me your .ved & resource files via dropbox or something?

I suspect the snoop-animation you see on your interface bar is the one "button" which the wiki tutorial told you to make which holds the animation. If this is the case (as mine was too) then go back to your interface, find that button, and drag it off the visible area of that interface (into the gray zone). Should solve the problem.

OmG! The solution was that simple and stupid! After sleeping a night it was (has been??) really clear: I don't use the snoop-animation, I used the normal animation! The list of actions is truly confusing, so I did't find it.
Only that: if you put the button on the interface, it is shortly seen after starting the game. So it's better to put it beside the interface (in the neverwhere area...).

    Sorry for that.

It won't be seen on start if you don't include it in the buttons default animation properties! wink

Why the snoop animation is behind object images in some cases? I have defined the snoop animation on interface level....

Are your scene objects organized correctly? The order should be based on their object center (z-index) values. Incorrectly ordered scene objects can cause various issues & side effects. Try clicking on the double yellow arrowed button in the scene toolbar section to automatically organize your scene projects. Save, then run your game & see if that sorts out the issue.

If that doesn't solve it, then it could be something you've done wrong, or it could just be another osx issue.

All my objects have the object center -1. I don't understand why the snoop animation is not displayed on the top like a cursor...

Might be an osx issue then. Where did you add the snoop / hotspot animation to?
