3D model animation dropdown is blank

I know I just posted a similar thread but now I have a more specific question. I loaded a .dae file into the "3d model file" in the outfit properties tab. I notice that now when I go to the properties for an animation in the "Outfits" tab, there is a drop-down menu called "3D model animation." Problem is, it's completely blank.

How do I make this drop-down -not- blank?

I have an animated .dae file that I would like to use as animation for my character, but I have no idea what the difference is between a 3Dmodel file and a 3D model animation. How do we load in a 3D model animation? Tbh I'm even confused as to what a .dae file is, I have no experience working with 3D animation of any kind, so...

Help please? No idea how I'm supposed to get stuff to be in that 3D model animation drop-down.

The 3d model system is currently very buggy as it's in beta; actually I wouldn't even call it beta... certain 3d model formats work better than others such as .x, but even then it's a bit hit & miss.

Right but so is it definitely a bug, then, that if I load in a .dae file to "3D model file", the "3D model animation" dropdown is blank? Or is there something else I need to be doing to get stuff to show up on the dropdown? Like I said I have no idea what I'm doing so it's quite possibly something I'm missing rather than the software just glitching.

I mean I tried a whole bunch of different files in various formats and it didn't work so i think it's likely something I'm doing wrong.

no it's just very very buggy. I don't even know if any of the experienced 3d modelers on this forum had much luck with it either, so no, it's not just you.

we made many fixes lately so it should run better now. So lets wait for the next update. The most important part is that your model can be loaded with assimp viewer as explained in the wiki:
    http://wiki.visionaire-tracker.net/wiki/3D_models
if it doesn't work with assimp viewer it won't work in Visionaire (which uses the assimp lib).
